Ohio House Bill 238 UPDATE

New Renewal Period for Ohio Appraisers

Starting April 9, 2025, Ohio appraiser credentials will be renewed every two years instead of annually. This significant change was made possible through the dedicated efforts of OCAP, in collaboration with other industry stakeholders.

Implementation Details:

  • Appraisers with Expiration Dates Before April 9, 2025: Will need to submit an annual renewal in 2025 and will transition to a two-year term at their next renewal.

  • Appraisers with Expiration Dates On or After April 9, 2025: May submit a two-year renewal application immediately for their 2025 renewal.

  • New Applicants: Those issued a new credential on or before April 8, 2025, will receive a one-year term initially but will be eligible for a two-year term starting in 2026. New credentials issued on or after April 9, 2025, will automatically be for two years.

Communication and Notices:

  • The Division will send detailed communications to all licensed appraisers about the transition. Ensure to check your emails and even the spam/junk folders to stay informed.

This change aims to streamline the administrative process for Ohio’s appraisers, reducing the frequency of renewals and allowing more focus on professional development and client service.
